Education & Community Participation

As WOW! Fest preparations continue to build momentum, our Education & Community Participation projects have been keeping us wonderfully busy. Here is a look back at the past month from our Education & Participation Manager, Natasha Boyes.

“ This month has been a vibrant and impactful period for our Education & Outreach team, marked by creativity, collaboration, and strong community engagement.

A standout achievement has been our community cast project in Swadlincote, where we worked with 180 enthusiastic participants from Pennine Way Junior School, Dame Catherine’s School, and Belmont School. Through a series of dynamic dance workshops, participants explored movement, expression, and teamwork, culminating in the creation of unique, co-created choreography.

These performances were proudly showcased as part of our production Parade – The Giant Wheel, giving participants the opportunity to take part in a professional artistic experience and celebrate their collective achievements on stage.

We have more WOW Fest creation workshops in schools beginning with St Thomas School. These sessions are already sparking creativity and excitement, as students start to develop ideas and contribute to what promises to be an inspiring festival programme.

With a busy May ahead, we are looking forward to continuing our work with schools, creating new opportunities for young people to engage, collaborate, and share their voices as part of WOW Fest. We look forward to building on this momentum in the coming weeks.”

If your school or community group would be interested in hearing more about our schools offer, including after-school clubs, dance workshops and creative movement sessions for schools and communities, please contact Natasha at natasha@autindt.co.uk
