Light Up Fest 2026

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Light Up Fest is returning to MAC – Midlands Arts Centre this February 2026!

After the incredible success of last year’s premiere, which saw over 5,000 participants come together to fill Cannon Hill Park with light, movement, and joy, we simply couldn’t wait to bring it back. The first edition featured six weeks of lantern-making workshops with local schools and community groups, resulting in hundreds of beautiful handmade lanterns that lit up the night in a magical procession of colour and creativity.

Light Up Fest is a vibrant, community-driven celebration by Autin Dance Theatre, created in partnership with Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) and Birmingham City Council. It features awe-inspiring performances, interactive installations, and large-scale processions that invite audiences of all ages to explore themes of connection, resilience, and hope.

This February, we’re bringing the light back even brighter — with new performances, more workshops, and even bigger community participation! Whether you’re joining us to create, dance, or simply soak in the glow, Light Up Fest 2026 promises to be a truly magical experience!

“Light Up Fest is a unique celebration by Autin Dance Theatre that brings together communities to illuminate public spaces through art, dance, and storytelling. Designed to inspire connection and wonder, the festival blends large-scale performances with interactive experiences to spark joy and creativity in audiences of all ages.” – Johnny Autin
