We’re incredibly grateful to the John Feeney Trust for funding our SEN Schools Low-Fly Aerial Dance Project. Their support has been instrumental in giving us the tools, time, and capacity to plan and deliver these workshops – and to bring something truly special into school spaces.
Last month we delivered a high-school workshop with 42 children and young people, transforming the school gym into an aerial playground. Using a newly adapted low-cost, low-fly rig, students explored harness work, swinging, core strength, teamwork, and creative movement – from their very first lift-off to working in tandem, one on the ground and one in the air, creating shapes and pathways they wouldn’t normally have access to.
Seeing the mix of excitement, joy, curiosity (and a little healthy fear!) as students entered the space was everything we hoped for and more. We were genuinely impressed by how confidently they engaged with the aerial rig, the physics of movement, and the experience of working upside-down or sideways — and by the openness and enthusiasm of the school staff who welcomed this one-of-a-kind physical activity so warmly.
Thank you to the John Feeney Trust for making this possible and huge thanks as well to Johnny, Natasha, Jamie and India, whose skill, care, and shared vision continue to make this work so meaningful.
We can’t wait to bring more young people into the air.
