🏮 Light Up Fest – SATURDAY 30 NOV! 🏮

đź“… Save the date for an upcoming FREE EVENT: Saturday 30 November, Light Up Fest from 4:30pm at Midlands Arts Centre – MAC Birmingham  

🏮 3 months of FREE lantern-making and storytelling workshops delivered by local community artists, for and with local community residents and groups (such as BHCat’s) and students & families from local schools (including Chandos Primary School) 

Get ready to brighten up your winter evening as Autin Dance Theatre takes you on a magically evocative journey through Cannon Hill Park to welcome the arrival of the festive season. 

Specially commissioned by Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), the inaugural family-friendly procession on Saturday 30 November will feature beautifully made willow and paper lanterns illuminating the sky, led by a glorious array of performers, musicians and a community cast.  

The parade will start at MAC’s Outdoor Theatre with free refreshments and continue through Cannon Hill Park, one of the city’s best-loved green spaces – everyone is welcome. Dress up warm!

 

What to Expect: 

10am – 3pm (last entry at 2:30pm)
Drop into the Hexagon Theatre at MAC to craft your very own glowing willow and paper lanterns – no experience needed!
 
From 4.30pm, MAC Outdoor Theatre
🌟 Procession walkabout through the park alongside Falsefeet’s incredible stilt performers, and a joyous community cast! The 45-minute parade ends with a spectacular celebration back at the Outdoor Theatre.
 
🎶  From 5:15pm – 6pm, MAC Outdoor Theatre
Celebration event with live music sets by EIF, lights and dancing! Refreshments will also be available to purchase here should you wish to indulge in a hot chocolate.
 
💬  This event is family-friendly, accessible, and will feature BLS interpretation by Olivia Whitter.
